The New York Rangers have too much good goaltending. They’ve got three NHL-caliber goalies and carrying all three of them next season simply isn’t going to happen. Igor Shesterkin proved himself as a starting goalie this season.

Alexandar Georgiev is due a nice raise because he’s a restricted free agent. Noted Hurricanes enemy Henrik Lundqvist could be traded, but it’s more likely he’ll get bought out.

It’s not a guarantee, though, that Hank will get bought out. If he isn’t, the Rangers will most likely trade Georgiev. Georgiev is an interesting trade target because of his youth. You’re not find a much younger goalie available than him, as Georgiev is just 24 years old. He still has quite a bit of room to grow.

In 77 career regular season games, Georgiev has posted a .913% save percentage. It’s worth pointing out that Georgiev has had to play behind a very ineffective Rangers defense. The Rangers and Hurricanes are comfortable dealing with each other, which is a huge help.

There’s a bit of uncertainty with Georgiev, but he has youth and upside on his side, which is more than can be said for most of, if not all of the rest of, the available goaltenders.
