According to the latest NHL trade rumors, Kyle Palmieri could be on the trade market. Here are the three best fits for the gifted wing.

One of the hottest names in the latest NHL trade rumors is New Jersey Devils forward Kyle Palmieri. He’s coming off a very solid season, during which he scored 25 goals and picked up 45 points in 65 games.

Palmieri has quietly scored at least 20 goals and 40 points in each of his last five seasons with the New Jersey Devils. In four of those five seasons, he scored at least 25 goals and he had at least 50 points thrice (2015-16, 2016-17, 2018-19). Palmieri’s greatest asset is his consistency. You know what you’re getting from him every game.

He’s above average at 5v5, but he really shines on the power play. Palmieri has scored 11 PP goals in four of his last five seasons. In the other season, he scored eight. Palmieri also has at least 20 PP points in each of his last five seasons.

TSN recently ranked him seventh in their latest Trade Bait column. With just one year left on his contract, the Devils must decide whether to sign him to an extension or start listening to offers for him. According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, they’re exploring the former.

His $4.65 million cap hit is quite reasonable for a top-six winger. Palmieri is one of the top forwards on the market because of his gifts on offense. He’s a well-rounded scorer, as he can score from around the crease and a variety of areas.

Should the Devils not be able to work out an extension with him, Palmieri will be highly sought after. He’ll have way more than three suitors, but these three teams would make the most sense for him.
