The Vegas Golden Knights have signed Robin Lehner to a long term deal.

The Vegas Golden Knights have officially resigned pending free agent goaltender Robin Lehner to a five year 25 million dollar contract. Lehner annual average value is five million a season for the next five seasons.

He was due to become a free agent next week but the Knights took care of business before that could happen. Lehner spent last season split between Chicago and Vegas and was acquired at the trade deadline to shore up the the goaltending tandem.

He posted a .920 save percentage and 2.89 goals against average with 19 wins in 36 games played. In the playoffs he had a .917 save percentage and a .199 in 16 games played while the Knights were sent home in the West final vs the Dallas Stars in five games.

There was some rumor this deal was already done during the Conference Finals but Lehner had put those rumors to bed. The Knights have yet to decide what they will do with Marc-Andre Fleury but he has stated he would like to stay in Vegas.

Lehner was drafted by the Ottawa Senators back in 2009 (46th overall) and played five seasons before being traded to the Buffalo Sabres in 2015. He would leave the Sabres as a free agent and sign with the New York Islanders.

He was signed on a one year deal with the Islanders and the next season got signed on another one year deal by the Chicago Blackhawks. Lehner was a Vezina nominee in 2019 and won the Williams M Jennings trophy with Thomas Greiss.

He also won the Bill Masterton Trophy in 2018 and in his career, has posted a .918 save percentage with a 2.72 goals against average and 116 wins in his career. He will for sure fight for the number one spot in Vegas depending on whether Fleury is moved or not.
