Vegas Golden Knights re-sign Chandler Stephenson
The Vegas Golden Knights re-signed Chandler Stephenson to a brand new contract long term.
The Vegas Golden Knights have signed pending RFA Chandler Stephenson to a four-year deal valued at $11 million. Stephenson was acquired at the trade deadline from the Washington Capitals for a draft pick.
He scored 11 goals and 26 points in 65 games this past season split between Washington and Vegas. During the playoffs he scored three goals and had five points. Stephenson was drafted by the Washington Capitals back in 2012 at number 77 overall. His total points so far in his career are 22 goals and 55 points in 209 NHL games.
Stephenson fit in well with the Vegas Golden Knights, most notably on the third line. But now due to the signing, the Golden Knights will be forced to clear cap space to fit under the $81.5 million cap set for the next season.

His contract has an annual average value of $2.75 million which is considered to be a raise and was well warranted with his play, he spent most of his ice time with Max Pacioretty and Mark Stone who are goal scorers. He did win the cup back in 2018 with the Washington Capitals, but it seemed like he didn’t fit in their system.
He came to Vegas and got off to the best possible start, scoring in his first game as a Knight, and seems to be working well under Pete DeBoer coaching system. The Knights are currently trying to move Marc-Andre Fleury so they can be cap compliant.
The Golden Knights are fresh off making it to the Western Conference Finals before losing to the Dallas Stars in five games. Also, another player who could be on the move is Paul Stasny, and as of right now, general manager Kelly McCrimmon is looking at his options for him.
Another player that could be on the move is Nate Schmidt and it was already reported prior to the NHL Draft that he had received calls on him.
