The Vegas Golden Knights had their jerseys become instant classics. Their new jerseys for their AHL team in Henderson share some good things, but add some interesting features as well.

The Vegas Golden Knights burst onto the NHL scene with a much better than expected and instantly recognizable team. Instead of going overboard with Vegas glitz and glamour, the team opted to show off the Golden Knights imagery that goes full force with their fortress home rink that includes a castle inside T-Mobile Arena. Some of that Vegas flair was added when a third jersey featuring gold was revealed this past offseason.

Vegas recently moved their AHL team to the Vegas area as well, giving the city their second professional hockey team. The name was recently revealed to be the Henderson Silver Knights.

The new jerseys for the AHL team were revealed on Twitter on Monday.

The new jerseys are a mixed bag. They rely heavily on matching their parent NHL team, which is good. Since they are the Silver Knights, silver and dark grey overtones are featured prominently. Basically, wherever a Vegas Golden Knights jersey would have red or gold, the Henderson Silver Knights jersey has silver and grey.

Also featured on the jersey is the new gold colors Vegas introduced in their third jersey. Henderson’s jerseys have them on thin arm stripes and a stripe on the bottom, as well as the players’ name and number. The addition of the gold was welcomed. As much as the Vegas Golden Knights jerseys are liked, the original gold, which always seemed more of a mustard yellow, seemed out of place.

The main feature of the jersey is interesting. The logo of the Henderson Silver Knights is featured prominently and in the same style as the Vegas Golden Knights. The Vegas logo is an armored helmet, meant to be worn by a person, but the Henderson logo is an armored helmet worn by a horse. It looks weird at worst and awkward at best. Vegas can’t be faulted for wanting to go with the same shield type of logo, but making one for a horse was an odd choice.

The silver state of Nevada has gotten their Henderson Silver Knights. Initial reactions to the jersey on social media seem positive.

Still, it’s hard to get over that helmet wearing horse logo.
