‘Fabric Of The Game’ is a must-read for all diehard hockey fans and jersey enthusiasts.
If, like me, you have been trying to discover new ways of keeping your mind active throughout this Pandemic, then you will have found reading to be the perfect tonic. And that’s where ‘Fabric Of The Game’ comes in to play.
Currently stockpiling books like they are going out of fashion, one particular title caught my eye on Amazon and it went straight into my basket.
Written by Chris Creamer and Todd Radom, the ‘Fabric Of The Game’ book is a beautiful and visually stunning look into the history and the origins of the names and the uniforms of all 32 NHL franchises, including the Seattle Kraken.

Not only that, but Creamer and Radom also take us down memory lane by delving into some historic franchises that are no longer with us, including the Hartford Whalers, the Atlanta Thrashers and the California Golden Seals.
It really is a nostalgic rollercoaster of a ride and the book also goes way, way back, exploring the origins of franchises you may never have heard of such as the Cleveland Barons, the Colorado Rockies, the Kansas City Scouts and the Montreal Maroons.
If you are into your hockey history then this book has a bit of everything for you, with Creamer, who is a world-renowned expert on sports logos and uniforms, doing a sublime job of really taking you into the weeds of how each team was named and how each franchise came to looking how they do today.
Plus, the book also does a great job of exploring all of the uniforms ever worn by each franchise, intricately mapping out the decision to adopt a new look and covering every possible era.
So, if you are a fan of an Original Six Franchise like the Montreal Canadiens or the Boston Bruins, be prepared to be wowed by the sheer amount of knowledge behind their very early uniforms.
But, while the above is all great, what really makes this book is the beautiful photography and the incredible illustrations by Radom, who is a renowned graphic designer who’s work covers all sports, which really help to bring the ‘Fabric Of The Game’ to life.
From brilliant historical pictures of those beautiful Whalers uniforms to those iconic Nordiques jerseys, Radom puts his genius to work by bringing to life jerseys of yesteryear, from the striking Montreal Maroons to the eye-catching unis of the Hamilton Tigers to those beautiful and colorful California Golden Seals uniforms.
‘Fabric Of The Game’ is simply a beautifully, striking and eye-catching book that really transports you to a wonderful place where you can get lost in pure hockey nostalgia.
Covering all 32 franchises and those that once were, this book really does tick a lot boxes for every single hockey fan out there and, having had my copy delivered earlier today, I can already tell you that you won’t be disappointed.
I would even go as far to say that this could become one of the best hockey books of the year, and it is one you can pick up at any time. It is stunning. I mean, I’ve said it already but the absolutely breathtaking illustrations of all the different jerseys are worth the price of the book alone.
‘Fabric Of The Game’, by Chris Creamer and Todd Radom, is out now and is available on Amazon, retailing at $24.99 in the USA and $33.99 in Canada.
‘Fabric Of The Game’ really would make an ideal stocking filler for that hockey fanatic in your life this holiday season!
