18. Best NHL draft picks in history: David Legwand, Nashville Predators

There’s always something special when you’re the first-ever draft pick of a brand new franchise. Such is the case with center David Legwand as he was selected second overall back in the 1998 NHL Draft by the Nashville Predators in their debut season.

12 seasons later, Legwand lived up to all expectations as he set many franchise records and even though it took a few years, started to truly make a name for himself. Legwand owns many franchise records that have yet to be broken.

To this day, Legwand has the record for most goals scored at 210, most assists at 356, and most points in franchise history at 566. It’s a great sight to see a draft pick deliver and how he exceeded all expectations.

Unfortunately, the Predators are one of those teams that have yet to win a Stanley Cup championship, even during Legwand’s tenure. Either way, he’ll go down as the best draft pick in the history of the Predators.
