The Bolts looked every inch the juggernaut they are in Game 1, and the defending champions proved why postseason experience is so vital after taking care of a Habs team that looked fazed by the moment.
This series is only just getting started, however, and the Canadiens have overcome adversity this postseason already having dropped Game 1 of the semifinal to the Vegas Golden Knights before winning the series in six, while they overcame a 3-1 series deficit to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs in the First Round.
With the jitters out of the way, the Habs should be better prepared heading into Game 2 and if they can get back to what has made them so successful and hard to play against so far in these Playoffs, then we should have one hell of a contest on our hands.

X-Factors
Tampa Bay Lightning
Andrei Vasilevskiy had a fairly quiet Game 1, stopping 18 of the 19 shots he faced and doing his job whenever called upon. However, the 2018-19 Vezina Trophy winner didn’t have loads to do for large chunks of the game, particularly in the third period when the Montreal Canadiens only recorded five shots on goal.
It should be a different story in Game 2. With the Habs hoping to split the series before heading back to Canada for Game 3, their forwards will play with more urgency and some of their young guns, including the likes of Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield, should be more dialled in after looking overwhelmed by the occasion in Game 1.
As such, Vasilevskiy will more than likely face a lot more rubber tonight and he could have to deal with a lot of traffic, so he will need to stand on his head and be prepared for a busy night if the Bolts are to take a commanding 2-0 series lead into Montreal on Friday.
Montreal Canadiens
Tyler Toffoli is one of a few players on the Canadiens to have had experience of winning a Stanley Cup having done so with the LA Kings in 2013-14, and he will need to use that knowledge of what it takes to win at this time of year to help his young line mates.
On a second-line with Suzuki and Caufield – with the latter still a rookie – Toffoli is the veteran of that trio and having seen his younger teammates struggle with the magnitude of the occasion in Game 1, he will have to lead by example.
He will also need to carry the offensive burden for a Habs team that struggled to generate offense on Monday and, having been acquired for his ability to come in off the wall and score, Toffoli will be expected to be the offensive anchor for his team in Game 2 and if his line can have a big night then that could be the difference in Montreal making it a tied series.
Prediction
It was a rough night overall for the Montreal Canadiens in Game 1, but I expect a bounce-back in Game 2 tonight, especially from Carey Price who will have a monster game to completely shutdown what is an explosive Tampa offense.
He will need his teammates to wake up offensively, which I think they will, and Montreal will get back to the style of hockey that led them to this point in the first place, resulting in this series being tied up heading into Game 3 in Montreal on Friday.
