We’ve got you set for a big Game 5 of the 2021 Stanley Cup Final.

This could be it tonight with the Tampa Bay Lightning needing just one more win to repeat as Stanley Cup Champions for the second straight year, and they will have the opportunity to do it on home ice in front of a packed building at Amalie Arena.

More from Puck Prose

As Game 4 proved, though, it won’t be easy with the Montreal Canadiens having their best performance of the series so far to stay alive, led by a 32-save outing from Carey Price and two goals from Josh Anderson, including the Overtime winner.

That was the Habs we had gotten used to seeing through the first three rounds of the postseason, and they will need to pull out another heroic showing if they are to really make this series interesting and shift it back to Montreal.

The changes made by Canadiens Interim Head Coach Dominique Ducharme clearly worked in Game 4 and they will stick with the same lineup for tonight’s showdown, while the Lightning will be without forward Alex Killorn for the fourth straight game.

Game 5 should be an absolute doozy given what is at stake for both teams and, with the Stanley Cup in the building again, we could be in for quite some night in the NHL. Let’s get you set for it…

Team Leaders

Montreal Canadiens Postseason Leaders

  • Nick Suzuki: 16 points (7 G, 9 A)
  • Tyler Toffoli: 14 points (5 G, 9 A)
  • Cole Caufield: 12 points (4 G, 8 A)
  • Corey Perry: 10 points (4 G, 6 A)
  • Joel Armia: 8 points (5 G, 3 A)

Tampa Bay Lightning Postseason Leaders

  • Nikita Kucherov: 32 points (8 G, 24 A)
  • Brayden Point: 23 points (14 G, 9 A)
  • Steven Stamkos: 18 points (8 G, 10 A)
  • Victor Hedman: 18 points (2 G, 16 A)
  • Alex Killorn: 17 points (8 G, 9 A)

Stat of the Day

The Tampa Bay Lightning have scored 11 goals within 10 seconds of a Montreal turnover, including two goals in Game 4, per Sportlogiq. That incredible stat is a big reason why the Bolts are one win away from repeating as Stanley Cup Champions.

X-Factors

Nick Suzuki (14)

Montreal Canadiens

Nick Suzuki has had a pretty special postseason so far with 16 points (7 G, 9 A), and he showed off his playmaking ability with a sublime pass to set up Josh Anderson for the first goal of Game 4 on Monday.

Suzuki is getting better and better with each passing game and with the Lightning boasting an explosive offense, Montreal will need to keep up in Game 5 and their young center will be expected to carry the offensive burden and do what he has done all Playoffs so far.

Tampa Bay Lightning

Andrei Vasilevskiy (88)

Andrei Vasilevskiy may have to win Game 5 for the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Canadiens were much better in Game 4 and their offense looked more dangerous, with Josh Anderson scoring two goals including the OT winner to extend this series.

Vasilevskiy has been pretty damn good this series, including a stellar 42-save performance in Game 2, and he will need to have another big night in Game 5 given that the Habs will be going all out in their second straight elimination game.

If Vasilevskiy can stand on his head and deliver the win and a second straight Stanley Cup for the Lightning, then he could be heading home with the Conn Smythe Trophy too.

Prediction

23. Final. 2. 152. 4

They couldn’t get the job done in Game 4 but, having lost Game 5 to the Dallas Stars before winning in Game 6 to clinch the 2020 Stanley Cup, the Tampa Bay Lightning have been here before and that will help them across the finishing line.

Yes, I fully expect the Montreal Canadiens to give it everything they’ve got once again and Carey Price will have another monster game, but the Lightning just have too much postseason experience and too much quality and depth to lose two games in a row.

Next. 4 Takeaways from Game 4. dark

Plus, with Amalie Arena at full capacity and the chance to celebrate a second straight championship with their fans, something they couldn’t do last year due to the Pandemic, that will be motivation enough for the Lightning to win Game 5 and the 2021 Stanley Cup.
