Yesterday, the Vegas Golden Knights announced that Nolan Patrick signed a two-year extension to his contract after being traded to them earlier this summer.

After being traded to the Golden Knights back in July, Nolan Patrick signed a two-year extension yesterday with the team with an annual value of $1.2 million. After being traded to the Nashville Predators earlier this year, he was acquired by the Vegas Golden Knights for forward Cody Glass. He scored nine points in 52 games after missing the 2019-2020 season because of a migraine disorder.

What Nolan Patrick brings to the Golden Knights

To be honest, Nolan Patrick may not seem like the best player at the moment, but when you think about everything he’s dealt with and what he could be given the right coach and an offseason that allows him to train instead of rehabilitating from surgeries and his migraine disorder. I sincerely think that with an offseason of him being able to train and get muscle that he’ll be off to a better start on the Golden Knights than he was on the Flyers.

He’s had tough years in the NHL and dealing with his migraine disorder really made it difficult for him to get the proper training that he needs to be as good as he can be. He’s a good player and playmaker, but he’s underdeveloped. Hopefully, with a new coach and a new team, he’ll be able to find his footing better.

Also, this past season might not be a great look in terms of what Patrick can do. He’s still recovering from his migraine disorder, and with the shortened season he didn’t get a chance to ease his way back into the sport after being out for a year. It may be that once he gets that chance, he’ll have more success and we’ll see the player that he is supposed to be.

Whether or not you’re a fan of Nolan Patrick, there’s definitely something in him that will hopefully flourish on the Vegas Golden Knights. They wouldn’t have traded for him if they didn’t think they could help him, and with the GM being his WHL coach, there’s a certain history there that most players don’t have.
