Cole Caulfield made a splash in the late season and postseason with the Montreal Canadiens. Can he continue his streak into the 2021-22 season?

Cole Caufield has already caught the eye of many as he made his debut late in the 2020-21 season and continued to play on the top line through the Montreal Canadiens’ postseason run. He scored 12 points in 20 games and showed major chemistry with Nick Suzuki, which will put him on the top line for the 2021-22 season. He’s shown that he can play with the big kids even after just coming out of college hockey. Caufield has shown he’s a terrific scorer and should be able to continue what he started in the 2020-21 season.

The Montreal Canadiens are currently at a disadvantage this year, losing 36-year-old Shea Weber to a shoulder procedure. Even though Weber is a defenseman and Caufield is a forward, it may help them to add some young blood into the lineup. Caufield has proven that he can play well on the top line and he’ll continue to shine next to Suzuki. He’s an elite goalscorer and has proven that on the ice in the postseason. If he continues what he started, he’ll be more than able to win the Calder trophy this year.

I think Caufield has a good chance of winning the Calder because people have already seen what he can do. He’s already in people’s minds as a Calder candidate because of his success in the postseason, and he’ll continue to show his talent with all the more chances that open up in a regular-season run. He’s small, but he plays well and doesn’t let his size affect the way he plays. He’s a good skater, and he’s able to play defensive positions as well as offensive positions.

He’ll easily be able to score 30 goals this season and score even more assists to make for a good rookie season. He’ll definitely be in the top as far as the Montreal Canadiens are concerned, and he may even make an impact on the NHL in his first season. When it comes to this guy, nothing would surprise me.
