The Chicago Blackhawks‘ very own Patrick Kane was left off the all-star game roster, the decision to not include Kane was pretty shocking, this is the first All-Star game since 2008 that won’t include Kane.

2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 – those are all the All-Star Games Patrick Kane got to participate in over the years. He is the Blackhawks’ most recognizable player at the event, and for the past few years, he has been the only Hawk in the game. Having him miss out on the games will be a weird thing to see.

The Chicago Blackhawks’ only representative will be Alex DeBrincat, DeBrincat is having a great season and this shows the changing era in Chicago as the face of the franchise is passed over to the Cat. Not only is Kane not on the list, but he might find himself on trade boards with the way the season is going.

Going into last night’s game against the Montreal Canadiens, Kane had put up 32 points through 32 games in the league. That is not bad for a player of his caliber he has seven goals and 25 assists through 32 games. A point a game player who has been leading the team for the past handful of years misses out on the event.

As mentioned, Alex DeBrincat has been named to the team. DeBrincat is going to be in a lot of these in the future, and it’s nice to see him in his first all-star game. It would have been even better to see him in the game with the player who set him up for a lot of his 23 goals on the year thus far.

The last man in vote does allow Blackhawks fans to impact the game by having one more Hawk in the event. For the Blackhawks, they can vote in Seth Jones, a great choice considering he has been one of the team’s best players this season. Jones has 25 points on the year and has been a big part of the blue line on the team.
