Blackhawks: More teams should be interested in a Dylan Strome trade
Dylan Strome and the Chicago Blackhawks are near the end of the line together. Strome hasn’t been able to make it into the lineup consistently for a long time now and was a healthy scratch last year when guys like Jonathan Toews and Kirby Dach were out of the lineup with injuries.
This team needs to move Strome sooner rather than later so they can start getting their future plan intact, even if the return on a Strome trade isn’t anything more than a third-round pick, it’s time to get him a fresh start on a new team.
The Chicago Blackhawks have a former third overall pick in Dylan Strome, and very few teams seem to be interested.
Strome has been someone mentioned in trade rumors for a little over a year now. It took the two sides a while to get a contract extension done during the offseason of the 2020 season, and even last deadline it seemed likely that he could be moved.
Now a full calendar year later we are still waiting to see what the team is going to do. The Blackhawks could re-sign Strome at a cheaper price at the end of the season, but who is to say whether both sides are interested in something like that.
There are a lot of contending teams looking for depth to help in their bottom six. The Boston Bruins, Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, Calgary Flames, and even Washington Capitals could probably use a little more help for a playoff run.
Heck, pretty much every team contending for the playoffs is going to try and add something to their roster to get them up that extra step. Teams are going to want to set themselves up for the future in the best way possible.
The last time Dylan Strome was traded he had the best season of his career. The fresh start and top-six role really gave him a chance to shine, and who is to say a fresh start with a new team again wouldn’t lead to similar results at least this season.
The NHL trade deadline is not till March 21st, but hopefully, we won’t have to wait that long to see what the Chicago Blackhawks end up doing with Dylan Strome.
