On Tuesday, April 5, the Chicago Blackhawks announced that they had recalled Lukas Reichel from the Rockford Ice Hogs.

Reichel has been on a tear down in the AHL totaling 21 goals and 28 assists (49 points) in just 49 games so far this season.  He has played in five games for the Blackhawks after making his NHL debut on January 13 against the Montreal Canadiens.

Reichel was selected 17th overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.  He played in two preseason contests for Chicago but started the regular season with the Rockford Ice Hogs in the AHL.  Through five regular season games with the Blackhawks, Reichel is yet to score his first NHL point.

The Blackhawks announced that they had recalled Lukas Reichel.

The Blackhawks only have 12 games remaining this season, but Reichel only has four games left until he burns the first year of his entry-level contract.  Coach King said on March 6 that he does not know if Reichel will finish the season with Chicago or not.  All he knows is that Reichel is up, and he is going to play.

At the Blackhawks morning skate on April 6, Reichel was on a line with Jonathan Toews at center and Kirby Dach on the other wing.  Reichel is set to play in the Blackhawks game on Thursday, April 7 against the Seattle Kraken.

Player Bio:

Lukas Reichel is 19 years old and will turn 20 on May 17.  He is from Nurnberg, Germany and has only played in Germany up until this past preseason.

He is a smaller forward at only 6 feet tall and 170 pounds, but he likes to use his speed and slick hands to produce offensively.  Reichel is labeled as a center, but it appears as if the Blackhawks are trying to slot him on the wing, as the Blackhawks roster is very deep at the center position.

Above is one of Reichel’s 21 goals on this season with the Rockford Ice Hogs from April 2, 2022 against the Tucson Roadrunners.
