The Chicago Blackhawks have a lot of former players that are competing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs right now. Some are playing big roles on their new team and some still sting to see in their new jersey.
Let’s go over five former Blackhawks that have been fun to watch this year in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Before I jump in I do have one note. I am interested in seeing what names we could add to the list next year. Could we see Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane on this list? Maybe Strome and DeBrincat, or perhaps even Adam Boqvist with his new team in Columbus?
This season has a lot of great players in the mix, but next season has the possibility to be even crazier. Okay, let’s jump in.
Brandon Hagel – Tampa Bay Lightning – Hawk from 2020-2022
The Brandon Hagel trade was a good one in my opinion. So seeing Hagel with Tampa has been rather fun up to this point. In five playoff games he has a goal and two assists and has been a fun piece of the third line there in Tampa. While I know a lot of fans are still upset to see him not in Chicago anymore, it is for the best when considering the return the Hawks pulled in.
Hagel has nine shots and nine hits in five games but has been in the box a bit much with 12 penalty minutes thus far. If Tampa Bay does get out of round one expect Hagel to be a big piece in their success down the line.
The next player on this list might have something to say about Hagel getting out of the first round though.
