The Chicago Blackhawks are working to rebuild their roster for a playoff run sometime down the line. While the past success of this franchise is now seven years behind, the rebuild is just getting started.

The Blackhawks have a lot of work to do to rebuild their franchise for the future, and rebuilding usually involves one thing: saying goodbye to a lot of the current players on the roster.

The Blackhawks have a lot of guys without contracts right now, but that doesn’t mean they should let them all walk because they are opting to rebuild the franchise for the future. So today we are going to talk about five players the team should keep around.

Re-signing these five players could be for a few different reasons, because they fit into the future with the franchise, because they could potentially be used as trade bait at the deadline, or because they have the room to keep them and why not while the team is working to rebuild the roster.

The Blackhawks have not undergone a real rebuild since winning their 2015 championship. While the Rangers, Kings and Bruins all rebuilt their rosters on the fly, the Blackhawks did very little to change and instead put band-aids on their problems to try and keep the ship going.

Those years of trying to stay afloat have cost the Hawks a lot, paired with poor trades and bad draft decisions, the Blackhawks are where they are today. So let’s talk about five players that bringing back would help the franchise.
