3. Caleb Jones
The Blackhawks have a lot of defensemen on their roster, and they have more than a few younger defensemen trying to break into the league. Yet I still think keeping Caleb Jones is the right move for the Blackhawks.
First off, he was fourth amongst defensemen in points this season. Secondly, he is still young at just 24 years old. And most importantly he is Seth Jones’s brother. Alright, that might not be the most important thing to consider here but it does matter.
Caleb Jones showed some sparks that he can be a good defenseman in the NHL. His age makes him someone that can still be in his prime when this franchise does hit the corner to success, and it is not like he is going to be asking for that much money this upcoming offseason.
Plus Seth Jones is going to be the face of the franchise no matter how fans might feel about the trade that brought him to Chicago. Jones is here to stay and is now going to be a part of a rebuild that he probably did not expect when he signed his contract. Keeping him happy and into it matters and keeping his brother around definitely won’t hurt that.
