Corey Perry certainly has had a long NHL career. After winning the Stanley Cup during his second season in the league, Perry has spent the last 16 years trying to chase another championship, bringing him to the Tampa Bay Lightning this past offseason as a free agent.

Corey Perry is the first player in the history of the NHL to go to three straight Stanley Cup Finals with three different teams and lose. As a fan of hockey and the players that make up the league, I hope he is the first and last player to do this.

Perry has played in 72 playoff games of the course of the past three seasons. In 2020 he was with the Dallas Stars, in 2021 he was with the Montreal Canadiens and this past season he was with the Tampa Bay Lightning, the team that sent him home without the Cup during the previous two seasons.

Perry is 37 years old and definitely still has some gas left in the tank for another few seasons in the league. He is signed for one more year with the Lightning making a million dollars during the next season.

Lightning’s forward Corey Perry is living proof that winning is hard in this league.

You never know when you are going to get back to the Stanley Cup Final. For guys like Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, winning came early in their career and hasn’t been back since, for guys like Alex Ovechkin winning in the playoffs was something that took a long time to get to, and for other teams around the league, they are still trying to figure it out.

The Lightning will be back next season for another chance at the championship, and there is no doubt Perry will be one of the most energetic players out there as he chases his second championship.
