The NHL announced its full 2022-2023 schedule on Wednesday.

It wasn’t the first look at the upcoming season for fans, as commissioner Gary Bettman had made some schedule-related announcements prior to the start of the Stanley Cup Final.

We already knew that the Nashville Predators and San Jose Sharks will be playing two games overseas in the NHL Global Series. In addition, Bettman had revealed that the season would begin in North America on October 11.

On Wednesday, we learned that those October 11 games will feature a rematch of the 2022 Eastern Conference Final when the New York Rangers host the Tampa Bay Lightning. Later that night, the Vegas Golden Knights will visit the Los Angeles Kings.

The NHL has announced its full 2022-2023 schedule.

The following night, the NHL will have a second doubleheader, highlighted by the Colorado Avalanche raising their championship banner when they host the Chicago Blackhawks. That game will be preceded by the Boston Bruins visiting the Washington Capitals.

Speaking of doubleheaders, the NHL Thanksgiving Showdown will be on November 25 as the Pittsburgh Penguins travel to play the Philadelphia Flyers and the St. Louis Blues play host to the Lightning.

The Penguins will play in the 2023 Winter Classic just over a month later against the Bruins, and that game will be on January 2 at Fenway Park.

That event, as well as the All-Star Game in Sunrise and the Stadium Series game in Raleigh, had been previously announced by the NHL.

April 13 will round out the league’s regular season dates, as 30 teams will wrap up their campaigns. This is good news for the NHL, as it means that the league is now officially back on track after the seasons impacted by COVID-19 and last year’s Olympic break.
