The Montreal Canadiens have stirred the pot again with drastic changes in regards to the roster

Stemming from the changes the Montreal Canadiens made to their roster by shaking things up big time recently during this past offseason, it has come to light that the team is quite different than it was a year ago.

However, it does still has the same presence of offense to compliment the forwards at a young age that defines good skill with a competitive twist to the moral.

The team is no doubt younger, but with the age experience that comes to light, it brings balance to the equation. What exactly general manager Kent Hughes was looking for, particularly this upcoming year, to be exact, is to be more prepared for the 2023 NHL Draft than free agency.

The Canadiens will gain assets with general manager Kent Hughes.

With the draft picks for next year, the GM would be able to salvage for a couple of years, depending on the status of the pick itself.

However, if the season plays out well for the Montreal Canadiens, this would give the young prospects time to develop in the farm system and learn from the well-aged veterans so to speak in regards to their respective gameplay.

As for the 2023 free agency, it is a stellar lineup of names that will be on the market. Such players include JT Miller from the Vancouver Canucks to Sean Monahan of the Calgary Flames.

Both of those teams, in the past three years, have had a history with the Canadiens in regards to free agency and trades, and it does not seem like Kent Hughes is done just yet.

Given the aspect of the team they have now, one would say it is built for speed, and the need at this point is for the size and grit level that will need to be addressed if the team will want to be more aggressive.

Granted, the Habs have a fair level of size on their bench, which is somewhat built for their skillset.

The frame of the team itself has become more offensive in nature thanks to forwards that will thrive with team chemistry and with good coaching from Martin St. Louis, with just a little help from the defensive-end helping on the front.

The team does have the stability to compete and the grit of the game will be observed thoroughly throughout the season, in one’s opinion, mainly during the stretch near the end of the season, which will impact the trade deadline scenario with broad prospects and draft picks at hand.
