The Seattle Kraken had a busy offseason adding players like Shane Wright through the draft. However, the biggest move of all might have come off of the ice for the Kraken.
The Seattle Kraken announced this offseason that they have added Eddie Olcyzk to their broadcast team. John Forslund and JT Brown did an excellent job during the inaugural season for the Kraken, and adding Olcyzk just makes the group that much stronger.
Olcyzk has been the color commentator for the Chicago Blackhawks since 2006, a position he left behind to join the Kraken. Outside of the local games, he also has been a lead color commentator for NBCSN and more recently TNT.
Forslund and Olcyzk have experience calling games together as they have been doing so for a long time now both with NBC and TNT, and the duo will remain a part of the TNT crew this season for national games.
Adding Eddie Olyczk to the Seattle Kraken will make them that much more relevant across the NHL. Olcyzk is one of the more recognizable hockey personalities, considering he has been involved in the Stanley Cup playoffs for the past handful of years.
The Kraken are still ways away from competing for the Stanley Cup, but adding Olcyzk to the broadcast booth just makes them that much more prepared for when they are in the postseason.
The energy and excitement around the Seattle Kraken was fun during their inaugural season, and now with an experienced broadcast booth with analysts like JT Brown and Olcyzk fans tuning into the Kraken’s game this season will be given a real treat.
The Kraken start their season on the road this upcoming season with a matchup against the Anaheim Ducks on October 12, followed by a game the next day against the Kings. It will be fun to listen in to Kraken games and hear a national broadcast duo like Olczyk and Forslund on any given night!
