The Boston Bruins defeated the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night by a final score of 3-1. It was a great game for Jim Montgomery as he defeated his old team as a head coach for the first time since returning to the league.

It was a really nice team win for the Bruins as they are now 6-1-0. Their level of play is a bit surprising knowing that they are without Charlie McAvoy and Brad Marchand who are two of their four best players. One player that has helped carry the burden of their loss is David Pastrnak.

In 2021-22, Pastrnak had 40 goals and 37 assists for 77 points in 72 games played. That isn’t bad but it pales in comparison to his 2019-20 season in which he had a league-leading 48 goals and 47 assists for 95 points. If that season wasn’t cut short, he would have had 50/100.

He is looking to get back to that total again here in 2022-23 now that he seems to be healthy and playing to his full potential again. Make no mistake about it, he is one of the best wingers in the National Hockey League.

The Boston Bruins are going to see David Pastrnak have a monster season.

In this game against Dallas, he scored the first goal of the game to make it 1-0 Bruins. That is his fifth of the season. Only four players have more up to this point.

After Dallas tied it up at one, Pastrnak made an amazing pass to Taylor Hall who did not miss and the Bruins would hold that as the game-winner. It was his seventh assist of the season. These 12 points are tied with Artemi Panarin, Valeri Nichuskin, and Jesper Bratt for the most in the league.

As of right now, he is on pace for 58 goals and 140 points. Of course, the goal pace is going to come down slightly and the point total will come down dramatically but he can absolutely get to 50 goals and 100 points.

If Pastrnak does this, he will be the first person to reach 100 with the Bruins since 2018-19  when Marchand did it. They are the only two since Joe Thornton did it in 2005-06 but he was split with the San Jose Sharks because of a massive trade.

You’d think that this feat would mean that the Bruins also are a playoff lock. With Patrice Bergeron, Taylor Hall, and David Krejci in the mix, they should be able to be a very competitive team all season long.

NHL fans should be enjoying Pastrnak the way that they do some of the other great stars in the game. He is right there in terms of career production and skill.

When the Bruins go on the power play, he has a dangerous shot that will score a lot and he is also incredible on the rush. All of these things will be factors in him reaching 100 points this season for the first time in his career.
