The Philadelphia Flyers are lucky to have Carter Hart in the mix

There are a few surprising starts to this 2022-23 NHL season. One of them is the fact that the Philadelphia Flyers are out of the gates at 4-2-0 and have looked mighty fine doing so. There are a lot of reasons for their success so far but it is fair to wonder if it is sustainable.

One of the big reasons that they have been good so far is also a reason that makes you think it might be sustainable. That is the fact that Carter Hart has officially arrived as one of the best goalies in the NHL.

He has had his elite flashes in the past but he is amongst the best in the league a few weeks into the season. If he can keep this up, there is actually a chance that he can lead his team to a great season.

Right now, the Flyers should be so incredibly happy that he is in the mix. In four personal games started, is currently third in the NHL with a .949 save percentage. He is also ranked fifth with a 1.75 goals-against average.

A few of the goalies ahead of him in both stats have played fewer games. He is one of the ones near the top of these stat rankings that is actually an NHL starter.

The Philadelphia Flyers are very lucky that Carter Hart is their goaltender.

The fact that he is 4-0-0 is not surprising to this point. Philly has lost the two games that he didn’t play and won all four that he did. To say that he is important for this team is an understatement. Again, they are so lucky to have him.

There are plenty of teams out there with significantly better skater depth that would trade some of it for a goalie like this. You can win in the NHL with elite goaltending and that’s what the Flyers have right now.

Hart was one of the NHL’s top goaltending prospects for a long time. Those that have been following along for his entire ride knew that this was eventually coming. This is a guy that can be a Team Canada starting goalie in the Olympics if he can keep this up.

For right now, the Philadelphia Flyers should just keep playing well in front of him because he can help them win a lot of games. You know John Tortorella is enjoying this performance from his young goalie and is going to do what he can to make sure it continues.
