A lot is on the line for the Toronto Maple Leafs Tonight

The Toronto Maple Leafs face off against the Philadelphia Flyers tonight in a must-win matchup in front of their home crowd.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have lost their last four games. Their west coast matchup did not go great losing to Vegas, San Jose, Los Angeles and Anaheim. Anaheim and San Jose are two of the worst teams in the league rebuilding right now, so losing against them hurts.

The Maple Leafs have not been great to start this season. They are not winning the games that they should, as all but one of their six losses have been against teams that were not in the playoffs last year. This game against the Flyers is very important.

If things do not go well tonight, change might be coming in Toronto, although some would argue change should be on the way regardless of how tonight’s game goes. The big four of Matthews, Nylander, Marner and Tavares might lead the Maple Leafs in points, but they have not done enough to get this team wins in tough games.

Toronto currently sits in seventh place within the Atlantic Division. They have a record of 4-4-2 and are going to have a tough time making the playoffs if their current level of play continues.

The team has been lacking both on offense and on defense they are averaging three goals against per game and have only scored 27 goals this season, the 25th-best total of all 32 teams.

While sometimes fans can overreact from a bad start of the season, considering where the Leafs hope to be at the end of the year – out of the first round and on a deep playoff run – this start is definitely a bit alarming.

After how things ended last year, one would expect this team to come out better than ever in 2022-23, and if they cannot get things done tonight, than maybe it is time to make some changes in Toronto.
