The Minnesota Wild are seeing their young stars help them win
The Minnesota Wild got off to a cold start in the first week of the season as they seemed to be unable to buy a win. However, Marc-Andre Fleury settled down, and now the team is beginning to get on a role. That isn’t very surprising because they have a wildly talented roster.
The cool thing is that while some awesome veterans are there like Fleury, they are mostly led by the young players that they have been bringing in over the years.
Everything that the Minnesota Wild do starts and ends with Kirill Kaprizov. He is one of the best forwards in the NHL right now and should be a lock for 100 points. This kid might even be in MVP conversations by the time it is all said and done.
In their game on Tuesday night against the Montreal Canadiens, he was sensational once again. He scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season which helped the Wild to a 4-1 victory. On his second goal, he made a spectacular play with Marco Rossi.
Lots of young players are contributing to the Minnesota Wild’s success lately.
Rossi is a former first-round pick who had a tough battle to reach the NHL but he is finally here. He made an amazing play to bat the puck out of mid-air to find Kaprizov who put it in the net. This became the first point of his NHL career.
Matthew Boldy scored the fourth goal of the night too, which was his sixth of the season. In addition to that, Joel Eriksson Ek had two assists to bring his season point total to nine in ten games played. These kids are very good.
Kaprizov is as good as he is going to be which is one of the best players in the league. However, these other guys are only going to get better which is amazing news for the Minnesota Wild who also has other young players that are on the way too.
This is an organization that used to be obsessed with older veterans but now they seem to have gone in a different direction. All of these young stars are becoming a core that might be able to win a lot of games in this league.
They are dealing with some salary cap issues this season, but they should still be a playoff team anyway. Over the next few years, however, they are going to become a very dangerous team if they start spending a little money to supplement this young core.
Following this big win over Montreal led by the youngsters, they host the Seattle Kraken on Thursday night. That should be a great test as the Kraken have also been playing great hockey lately.
With all this young talent, the Wild are going to be so good for a long time. They are slowly becoming one of the league’s must-watch teams because of all these great exciting players.
