The New York Rangers versus the Detroit Red Wings game was a heck of a matchup going back and forth.

This was an interesting game, to say the least, because of the firepower both teams possess and where they stood in their current divisions before the game at hand.

The Detroit Red Wings ended up taking the game in overtime, after the New York Rangers player took a careless penalty in the OT frame.

My thoughts on the game are that both teams did come out to play, as it was a tight game to say in general.

The Rangers were somewhat organized at first, connecting the puck from plays that just started from the forecheck. However, they started to rely on one-man finishes, which did not go their way.

How did the Detroit Red Wings not score more goals?

Detroit on the other hand, had their complete game by connecting with many passes that were of course turned away by New York’s brilliant goaltending. The Red Wings still managed to score 2 in regulation of play.

In my opinion, both teams were evenly matched with high intensity and good team chemistry. The Red Wings were the better team, with their amount of chances in the game.

Detroit had a more well-rounded game with respect to playing harder and finishing the forechecks in the game.

The Rangers’ tenacity was also a factor in the game as it usually is in all contests in my opinion. New York did have plenty of chances but was out-hustled throughout the game in general.

The team’s best player was the goaltender, Jaroslav Halak, who did make incredible saves against the Red Wings throughout the night as I reiterate.

The New York Rangers forwards played with heart, and know how to execute plays really well as I observed, it just was not their night this time around.

Overall, it was a really entertaining tilt with the next game a must-watch.
