From the period of the offseason, it was tough to predict how the Los Angeles Kings team would be playing from the beginning of the season till practically right about now. Recently, the team has been on a surge, and it is not surprising in the least in my opinion.

Going seven wins and three losses in the last ten games has come from the Kings’ formation and, most importantly, the lineup of forwards with the defensemen who chip in regularly by producing points.

Whether it would be scoring or playmaking, this team is using all its tools to compete in a fashionable way to grind out wins against a line of tough teams they have played against in the past ten games.

So, what are the Los Angeles Kings doing right?

Basically, the offense has become more potent and is quite flexible to the gameplay of opposing teams.

Their odd-man rushes are impeccably good, and the forecheck is creating many opportunities, where they are scoring and producing well.

This team is starting to become a force to reckon with and is slowly putting the league on notice. The forwards are competent to lead the way, especially the first line while the other players have stepped up.

The team itself has stepped up to coach Todd McLellan‘s game quite well, and his defensive strategy is working wonders.

With a little tweak in certain areas of that aspect, this team would be the perfect offensive-defensive team to play against and maintain their current course on-ice.

The game in the offensive zone has taken a couple strides beyond improvement. For one, the neutral zone battles have been in the Los Angeles Kings’ advantage, and the scoring has picked up from the key areas around the net, including the goalie’s crease.

The most important aspect of the Kings’ game that has evolved has been the man-to-man coverage and the passing that has really picked up. The pass and play have been consistent like no other and giving the Kings team many opportunities to score.

Overall, this team has what it takes to go the distance at a fairly young age, and with the experience attached, it will be interesting to see how they present themselves.
