Steven Stamkos is very close to some amazing NHL milestones
Steven Stamkos is one of the best players to play in the NHL over the last decade or more, and he still feels like he is a bit underrated. The Tampa Bay Lightning captain has been absolutely unreal throughout all these years.
Stamkos has done some amazing things in this league, which includes four trips to the Stanley Cup Final where he has won two of them.
There are also a few other personal achievements throughout the years that he should be very proud of, like the Rocket Richard Trophy, which goes to the player who scored the most goals of the season, and Stamkos has won it twice.
Now, Stamkos seems to have a lot of regular season milestones all coming up at the exact same time. So far this season, he has 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points in 18 games played. He has been very good for Tampa Bay (his only-ever NHL home) this season.
Steven Stamkos has been so great throughout his Hall of Fame NHL career.
Now, as a result, he is just nine goals away from 500 and eight points away from 1000. This is all coming right after Stamkos earned his 500th career assist (he now has 501).
It doesn’t end there. Stamkos is 20 games away from his 1000th game played. It is an impressive career that is all coming together around the same time. There is no doubt that this man will be in the Hockey Hall of Fame whenever he is done. At 32, he has a long way to go.
Stamkos sure has had some help. Nikita Kucherov, Victor Hedman, and Andrei Vasilevskiy are all going to be Hall of Famers as well, which makes his life so much better. All of them have come together to form one of the greatest cores ever. There is no wonder why Tampa has been so good.
Things weren’t always easy for Stamkos. He broke his leg badly one year, had a blood clot, and had various other injuries over the years that easily could have slowed him down. Instead of letting that get to him in the long term, he has come back just as good, if not better.
Early in his career, Stamkos was mostly just an elite goal scorer. Now, he is one of the best two-way players in the game that scores a lot of points.
Watching him eclipse all of these milestones over the next few weeks should be really fun for NHL fans. There is no doubt that he is one of the greats.
