The New Jersey Devils are one of the best teams in the National Hockey League. They have everything that they need to make a run at the postseason, and the only thing that they might be missing is some playoff experience. They are being led by guys like Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier.

Hughes is one of the most exciting players in the league that is finding a way to score lots of goals in addition to racking up the assists.

It is fair to wonder where he is going to finish in terms of the overall point leaders in the league. Everyone knows that this is a league loaded with talent that is so good.

The people near the top of the league in points scored are all incredibly fun to watch in addition to being productive. Where does Jack Hughes rank on this list right now?

It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that Connor McDavid is atop the NHL leaderboard with 39 points. He set up an overtime game-winning goal for Leon Draisaitl to cap off a three-point night on Monday as he entered the game tied with Jason Robertson of the Dallas Stars at 36.

Jack Hughes is amongst some of the best players in the NHL scoring race.

Following those two is Nikita Kucherov who is finally healthy and playing the way that we know that he can. He has 34 points.

Draisaitl is in fourth at 33 points, and it essentially has nothing to do with McDavid, as they play apart at five-on-five. Both of them are elite. You might remember that Draisaitl has a scoring title and a Hart Trophy which he won in a year when McDavid got hurt. They help each other.

Rounding out the top five are two players tied. One of them is David Pastrnak, who comes as no surprise because he is one of the best offensive wingers in the game.

The other is Erik Karlsson, who is so impressive because he has 32 points as a defenseman playing on a bad team. He is on the early track to winning the Norris Trophy as the league’s top defenseman.

There are lots of players that deserve praise for being amongst this group as well for different reasons, like Sidney Crosby, Tage Thompson, and Matthew Tkachuk, but where does Jack Hughes rank as he gets hotter and hotter?

Well, he is bunched up with a bunch of players tied at 26 points. That is a seven-way tie for 15th in the league in scoring. Only four points separate them from being in the top six or so. The scoring race is going to be fun to keep up with all season long.

One of the players tied with Hughes is Jesper Bratt of the New Jersey Devils. Bratt is having an amazing year in his own right, but Hughes has caught him and should pass him up by a fair margin by the time we get to 82 games.

Nico Hischier is also in the top 25, as he has just one less point sitting at 25. The Devils’ big three have been nothing short of sensational, and now you can see that they are amongst the best scorers in the league. For Jack Hughes, the sky is the limit offensively.
