The Los Angeles Kings have extended forward Trevor Moore through the 2027-28 season thanks to a five-year $21 million contract.

Moore joined the Los Angeles Kings in February of 2020 when he was traded to the Kings from the Maple Leafs in a deal that sent Jack Campbell and Kyle Clifford to Toronto.

Moore has played almost 200 games with the Los Angeles Kings and, at the age of 27, has already put up 107 points in 236 NHL games.

LA Kings extend Trevor Moore with five-year contract.

Moore’s new deal will carry an average annual value of $4.2 million. On the entire Kings roster, he has the second-longest contract currently on the books as for this roster – only behind Kevin Fiala.

This is a big win for Moore as he entered the league as an undrafted forward with the Maple Leafs in 2018 and now has a big contract with the Kings.

Moore is playing in a top-six role with the Kings this season. He has put up seven goals and 11 assists in 32 games so far this year. He is a critical piece to the team on the penalty kill and is someone who also is not afraid to hit when they need to be physical.

The Kings have an excellent player in Moore and this is a great extension assuming where the salary cap is heading in the next few seasons. This past year during the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Moore also contributed two goals and five points in their round-one series against the Oilers.

Overall, this is a great signing for the Kings. They are adding another piece to the future of their success for a relatively good price. Moore’s deal runs for a long time, so by the time this is over, the price for a solid top-six option is not going to be anywhere near the $4 million mark.

The Kings are back in action on Thursday in Boston.
