On Monday, the Boston Bruins had a daytime home game against the Philadelphia Flyers in what was another good test for the team as a whole. Philly has been playing much better lately and came in winners of seven of their previous eight games.
This game was extra special for one of the greatest Boston Bruins in the history of their great franchise, David Krejci. For a long time, Krejci has been one of the most underrated players as he is one of the best playmaking two-way players of his era.
After taking 2021-22 to play back at home in the Czech, he is back in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins. This Monday afternoon game, as mentioned before, was extra special for him and it is because of the fact that it was his 1000th career game.
After he took his first shift, the Boston Bruins PA announcer and fans took a moment to acknowledge it and he received a standing ovation. It was a great moment for a truly great player in Bruins history.
David Krejci certainly had fun in his 1000th career NHL and Boston Bruins game.
In typical Krejci fashion, he played big in a big game. The Bruins won 6-0 and Krejci collected an assist on all three goals.
The Bruins took a 1-0 lead in the game because Krejci forced a turnover for the puck to find Pavel Zacha who fed it to David Pastrnak for the goal. Later in the period, the Bruins went up 2-0 because of a great play that Krejci made to find Zacha who didn’t miss with his big shot.
Later on in the second period, with a 3-0 lead already in the game, Zacha scored a peculiar goal to make it 4-0 and Krejci collected an assist on that one as well. Again, a three-point performance is a great way for him to celebrate this big milestone.
The Bruins are now 34-5-4 which is the best record in the NHL by a longshot. Seeing Krejci come back is a big reason for this stunning record. He has found amazing chemistry with his new linemates and countrymen Pavel Zacha and David Pastrnak.
For a long time, Krejci has been amongst the NHL’s best and it has been no different this year in his return to the Bruins. This team has a legit chance to win the Stanley Cup later this year and he will be a big part of any deep run that they make. He already has one Cup, it might be time for another.
