The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-3 at home on Sunday night. Patrick Kane registered a hat trick in the win and showed all that were watching that he could still play at a high level.
Patrick Kane shines again in Blackhawks’ win over Maple Leafs.
The Blackhawks and Maple Leafs recently faced off in Toronto last Wednesday, Feb. 15. During that game, Kane was nowhere to be seen on the ice. With four shots on goal and no points, Kane was a minus one and did not contribute much to the game. Now just a few days later, Kane helped write a different story.
Kane registered three goals on the night and had an additional assist on an empty netter. He put on a show in front of a lot of scouts in the stands, and he definitely showed those that were watching that he could still play at a high level.
Patrick Kane shines with all eyes on him
It is no secret that Patrick Kane is thinking about his future. Does he move to another team ahead of the 2023 trade deadline? Does he try to go win another Stanley Cup right now before calling it a career down the line? Kane has things to consider right now. A showing like the one he had on Sunday definitely should intrigue more teams.
Up to this point, Kane had just 11 goals this year. His numbers are down across the board, and with the rumors revolving around a possible hip injury, it looked like Kane was not the same player he was a few seasons ago.
However, he just had one of those performances against a top team that showed he could will his team to victory. There are a ton of teams that could trade for Kane, but the ball is in his court on where he wants to go.
The United Center was rocking once again.
Who knows how many more times Blackhawks fans will get to watch Patrick Kane in a Hawks jersey? If Sunday was truly one of his last performances at home and with the team in general, then it was one heck of a game to witness. Check out the ovation Kane got after his hat trick:
The Blackhawks are back in action on Tuesday night when the Vegas Golden Knights come to town. Chicago is one point in front of the Anaheim Ducks for last place in the NHL.
