The Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings have played an amazing series in the 2023 first round. The winner of this series has a chance to make some noise in the playoffs in the second round and beyond.

For the third time in four games, the match went into overtime. The Kings won the first two overtime games and had a 2-1 series lead.

The game didn’t start off looking like one that would go to overtime, though, as the Los Angeles Kings got out to a 3-0 lead at home.

In an incredibly entertaining fashion, the Oilers came all the way back to get the game tied up at three. That wouldn’t have to be the last time that they came back to tie either. Los Angeles made it 4-3 at one point, but the Oilers got it tied once more.

The Edmonton Oilers found a way to win against the Los Angeles Kings.

The resilience paid off for the Oilers as they won the game in overtime (5-4) thanks to a goal by Zach Hyman. He picked a great time to find his first goal of the playoffs.

Connor McDavid is going to get plenty of love after this game, as he had a very nice three points (all assists). He is now up to six in four games. Leon Draisaitl had three points as well (two goals and one assist), so the stars definitely came to play.

In addition to those two, there is another player that deserves praise for having three points. That is defenseman Evan Bouchard (one goal and two assists) who is now becoming one of the best offensive defensemen (especially on the power play) in the league.

Both teams have now blown multiple-goal leads in the series, so nobody can feel safe in the next few games. Both teams have seen their stars come to play, and both teams have gotten some impressive power-play production.

Even more than the Oilers, the Kings have gotten a little bit of offense from everyone which is nice to see for them. Although they dropped this game, they have to feel good as the series now becomes a best-of-three.
