The Vegas Golden Knights took game one over the Dallas Stars in overtime. It was an incredible game that proved that the series was going to be tight the entire time.

Once game two came around, you could expect that the Dallas Stars would come out flying. They certainly did that, which was amazing to see for Peter DeBoer’s squad.

Dallas took a 1-0 lead when Miro Heiskanen scored. That’s two straight games here where the Stars took the early lead. It’s also two straight games where they took that lead and then didn’t expand on it.

Mark Stone tied the game up for Vegas with his 6th of the playoffs. This 1-1 tie would last for the duration of the first period.

The Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights put on a show once again.

In the second period, Jason Robertson scored to take the lead for Dallas. That 2-1 score would hold for almost the entire rest of the game. However, Vegas’ push ended up being too much for the Stars.

At 17:38 of the third period, Jonathan Marchessault scored to get the game tied at 2-2. He has been clutch all postseason long and the Golden Knights are (in large part) where they are in the playoffs because of him.

Once again, overtime was necessary. In fact, this was the fourth overtime game in four conference final games split between the East and the West.

Chandler Stephenson scored just 1:12 into the overtime period to end it quickly for Vegas. It was a great play that allowed the Golden Knights to take a 2-0 lead in the series. Although it was very tough, they were able to win both games at home.

You are never out of a series until you lose one at home. Now, they will shift to Dallas where the Stars will try to turn this thing around. Their crowd will be bumping as their team comes home needing their help. The atmosphere should work in their favor to start.

Expect a big push early in the game from the Stars as they try to stay close. Vegas will have to weather a storm if they want to take that commanding 3-0 series lead. That contest will take place on Tuesday night.
