The Vegas Golden Knights have defeated the Dallas Stars in six games
The Vegas Golden Knights are headed back to the Stanley Cup Final! They defeated the Dallas Stars in 6 games to win the Western Conference title.
Dallas gave Vegas a bit of a scare. After the Golden Knights took a 3-0 series lead, the Stars won two in a row to force game six. Thankfully for Vegas, they avoided a game seven which would have been sketchy for them after leading 3-0 in the series.
William Carrier got the party started for Vegas just 3:41 into the hockey game. His backhand goal got Vegas out to a 1-0 lead. From there, the Knights took over.
After doubling them up on shots in the first period, Vegas went into the intermission with a 3-0 lead secured by two even-strength goals and one power-play goal.
The Vegas Golden Knights took care of business against the Dallas Stars.
After the game was all said and done, Adin Hill earned the shutout with a 6-0 victory. Everybody did their job in order to finally end the series following a tremendous scare. If the Stars would have forced game 7, that would have been a disaster for the Knights.
There are some really good players on both sides to be happy about. For the Stars, Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz have become superstars in the league. They are two of the best forwards on the planet.
Jake Oettinger had a tough tournament but he is clearly one of the best goalies going right now. It will be interesting to see how he responds to this next year.
Dallas will be looking to make some upgrades on defense but Miro Heiskanen is going to be their number one for a long time. He is truly special.
As for Vegas, they have been getting help from all over the lineup. Hill’s aforementioned shutout should have him in the Conn Smythe Trophy race. Other Knights like William Karlsson, Jack Eichel, and Jonathan Marchessault are also in the running.
This is the second appearance in the finals for Vegas in their six-year history. This franchise has truly become something special.
Now, they will face the Florida Panthers. A team is going to win their first-ever Stanley Cup over the next few weeks which should be really exciting to watch. This is going to be a very fun series with lots of skill. Expect the unexpected to cap off what has been a great year.
