The Blackhawks are going to have a completely new roster when they hit the ice in October of 2023. There will be a few returning players when Connor Murphy and Seth Jones hit the ice, but overall this group is different. One new face that will be in a Hawks uniform will be Corey Perry.

Corey Perry has played in over 1200 hockey games over the course of his 18 year career. He has played for the Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning, going to the Stanley Cup Final with every single one of those teams.

Perry is no stranger to Blackhawks fans as Perry was on the Ducks in 2015 when the Hawks would beat Anaheim in 7 games during the Western Conference Final.

I have seen a lot of negativity around the Blackhawks decision to add Corey Perry, and I think fans need to give him a chance before getting too frustrated about the move. Overall, there is a lot to be excited about in regards to adding Corey Perry.

Why Blackhawks fans should be excited about adding Corey Perry.

Corey Perry played for Luke Richardson during his time with the Montreal Canadiens. The Hawks head coach knows how best to use Corey Perry, and the Blackhawks should benefit from having a veteran player like him around each and every night.

Perry is a tough player to play against. During the two previous seasons, Perry had 121 hits in 163 games for the Lightning. He plays a physical brand of hockey and is not afraid to fight on the ice. For the Hawks, they can use some of that in their locker room especially when they are bringing in a ton of rookies.

Perry is a Stanley Cup Champion and a Hart Trophy Winner. The 38 year old might be near the end of his career, but he is another veteran who can help set the tone for this team alongside Nick Foligno and Taylor Hall. I think Corey Perry could become a fan favorite like Max Domi did this past season. Now, we will just have to wait and see what happens.
