The Pittsburgh Penguins have made tons of noise this off-season. That includes introducing Kyle Dubas to lead the way following his Toronto Maple Leafs departure.

Obviously, the big move they made is the three-team trade that landed them Erik Karlsson from the San Jose Sharks. Although they acquired Karlsson and his big contract, the deal saves them three million dollars in cap space because of what they sent away.

They also added tons of other help in the form of guys like Noel Acciari, Reilly Smith, and Ryan Graves amongst others. These players are going to help get the team going in the right direction again.

The Penguins ended up missing last postseason by one point and that point was lost in a very winnable game against the Chicago Blackhawks. The team that snuck in over them, the Florida Panthers, went all the way to the Stanley Cup Final.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are always looking to improve their organization.

After that very tough ending, it was clear that some changes were going to be made. These big changes already have happened. It has been a great off-season for them so far as they look forward to the future.

It is admirable that this Penguins franchise wants to keep going for it as Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kristopher Letang get into their mid/late 30s. Everyone wants to see them in the playoffs until they play their last games.

The future beyond them is not very bright but they will cross that bridge when they get there. For now, the window is still open. These three players are still available in free agency to help this year:

. FWD. New Jersey Devils. Tomas Tatar. 90. player. 85

Tomas Tatar would make a great addition to the Pittsburgh Penguins this year.

Tomas Tatar had a brilliant 2022-23 season with the New Jersey Devils. He reached the 20-goal plateau and helped them become one of the most surprising teams in the league.

The cool thing about Tatar is that he can play on multiple different lines. He had success on New Jersey’s third line and he also found time with Nico Hischier or Jack Hughes in their top six.

If he came to the Pittsburgh Penguins, he could find himself in a similar situation. You’d think that he’d have some time on the third line but also see minutes with both Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.

He is also someone that could help the team on the power play as they try to put together a strong second unit. We know their top group is lethal but the second group could be something too if they added a scorer like Tatar.

Their forward depth was challenged at the end of last season and someone like Tatar could really help them fix that.

Detroit Red Wings. Pius Suter. 24. player. 72. . FWD

The Pittsburgh Penguins would be smart to consider someone like Pius Suter.

It is very interesting to see that Pius Suter is still on the market. After some good seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks and Pius Suter, he should find himself a new NHL home soon.

He doesn’t jump off the scoresheet every night but his underlying numbers are very good. As mentioned before, their forward depth could use some help and Pius Suter is someone who could provide that help.

Unlike Tatar, Suter probably isn’t getting top-six minutes on most nights but he would be someone that could help them solidify the bottom-six roles that they need.

He also probably doesn’t cost that much so signing him wouldn’t have to end their off-season spending.

Forwards like this are important in the NHL. and can be the difference in making the playoffs or just missing as they did last year. With some of the other additions made up front for the Penguins last year, Suter could be a big help.

Nick Holden. 5. player. 91. . D. Ottawa Senators

The Pittsburgh Penguins could use some help on defense going forward.

The Pittsburgh Penguins could use some help on defense. Yes, they added Erik Karlsson to the group but he isn’t exactly the best defensive defenseman.

In fact, Karlsson is all about the offense. He is great at it but he could get better. Now, the Penguins would love to add another player to compete for that sixth spot on the blue line.

You need as many good and healthy players for that role as possible and the Penguins know that from previous experience.

Adding someone like Nick Holden would really help them get to that place. He’d come in and bring stability to the bottom pair as this team tries to be a playoff team once again.

He spent the last two seasons with the Ottawa Senators after stops with the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, Colorado Avalanche, Boston Bruins, and Vegas Golden Knights.

A team like the Pittsburgh Penguins would be another great stop for him. In fact, all three of these players would look good in that uniform.
