The EA Sports NHL 24 cover athlete has finally been revealed

The time has finally come. Summer is ending which means the NHL is going to be back in short order. Of course, that means that the newest edition of the video game is going to come out with EA Sports NHL 24.

Every year, there are folks out there wondering how the game is going to be. Which new features will be added to complement the rest of the game that we love so much? Everyone is wondering.

Who they decide is the cover athlete is also an incredibly big deal. This player (or players) is the face of the game for an entire year. Trevor Zegras and Sara Nurse graced the cover for NHL 23. They did a great job.

On Monday, we learned who the new cover athlete is going to be. It is confirmed that Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche is going to be the guy.

Cale Makar has the honor of being on the cover of EA Sports NHL 24.

Honestly, it is surprising that it took this long for him to grace a cover. He has been one of the best players in the NHL since his arrival.

Makar can add the cover honor to his mantle that includes the Stanley Cup, Conn Smythe Trophy, Norris Trophy, Calder Trophy, and three all-star appearances. Not bad for only being in the league for four seasons. He is already on a Hall of Fame trajectory and his career is just getting started.

What is it that makes Makar so great and fitting for this cover? Well, he is basically a real-life video game. He skates as well on the back end as anyone who ever lived.

It is like having Connor McDavid (who has also appeared on an EA Sports NHL video game cover) as a defenseman. Guys like that don’t come around often.

There was some speculation about who is going to be on the cover but now we know all of those suggestions were wrong. Cale Makar is the guy and he deserves the honor.

He is the best defenseman in the league on the cover and he should be proud of that fact. Hopefully, this cover allows casual fans to realize just how good he is. There will be a full reveal for the game on August 16th.
