The Boston Bruins had the best regular season in NHL history this past season, but they could not get it done once the playoffs came around. The Boston Bruins made a handful of moves this offseason with their backs against the wall cap wise, so let’s look at some of the new faces in Boston.

The new faces on the Bruins heading into the 2023-24 season

The Bruins said goodbye to a lot of fan favorites this offseason, David Krejci, Tyler Bertuzzi, Patrice Bergeron, Nick Foligno and Taylor Hall are all no longer with the team, but the Bruins did welcome a handful of new players to Boston, along with a former fan favorite.

The 2023 big offseason additions by the Boston Bruins:

Alec Regula

Ian Mitchell

Morgan Geekie

Anthony Richard

Kevin Shattenkirk

James van Riemsdyk

Milan Lucic

Patrick Brown

Jesper Boqvist

Alex Chiasson

This is a different Bruins team than they were last season. You can’t lose Patrice Bergeron and expect to be the same team, but there is still a lot of talent in Boston, especially after the additions they made this offseason.

James van Riemsdyk could very well be a top line player this upcoming season and guys like Morgan Geekie, Jesper Boqvist and Milan Lucic are going to be big parts of the Bruins bottom six this upcoming season.

Ian Mitchell and Alec Regula are both interesting players on this team. Both came over in the trade with Chicago that sent Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno to the windy city. Mitchell and Regula are both young defensemen who really did not get much of an opportunity in Chicago.

Should either one of them get an opportunity to play in the NHL this upcoming season they could run away with the opportunity. Mitchell is only 24 years old and has only played on bad teams in Chicago up to this point in his career. On a competitive roster maybe the young defenseman can be a cheap option moving forward.

Bringing back Milan Lucic was a smart call by the Bruins. This team has said goodbye to some fan favorites over the past few years, and while Lucic might not be the impact player he once was, he definitely will have an impact on the locker room and the community.

Only a few weeks to go before preseason starts and fans can finally see these additions in Bruins’ jerseys!
