The Colorado Avalanche should be in a better position this season. Injuries were a big problem in 2022-23, but this year a healthier team for the most part will hit the ice when October comes around.

The Avalanche will be without their captain Gabriel Landeskog this year, but the team did go out and add some player this offseason like Ross Colton and Ryan Johansen. Overall, the roster that won the 2022 Stanley Cup is still here, and one of the main faces of their championship could make or break this season.

The most important player to watch this season for the Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche are once again one of the favorites to win the Stanley Cup at the start of a new season. While last year’s playoff run ended way too early, the Avalanche have one of the best players in the world in Cale Makar on the blue line.

Cale Makar is the most important player to watch on the Avalanche this season. The Avalanche’s top defenseman put up 66 points in 60 games this past season, including 17 goals.

Makar was a finalist for the Norris Trophy for the third year in row, and there is a good chance he will be a finalist once again at the end of this season.

While the Avalanche have a ton of talent in their organization, Cale Makar is one of the biggest game changers in the entire NHL. He is someone who can do everything on the ice making great plays defensively and then skating the other way to score a big goal. Having Makar in the lineup and healthy all season will be key to success this season for the Avs.

The Avs no longer have the pressure of being the defending champs this season. There is a reason so few teams repeat as champs in back to back seasons, and now the pressure is off the Avalanche.

I think this could be a record setting year for Makar. Only six defenseman in NHL history have registered 100 points in a season up to this point, and there is no reason to doubt that Makar could do so this season.
