It is time to take things outside. A lot of NHL seasons don’t have an outdoor game until we are well into the season but this year is different. On Sunday, October 29th, the Calgary Flames are going to take on the Edmonton Oilers at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton.

That’s right, the Battle of Alberta is headed outside for the first time in the history of the rivalry. There is no love lost between these two teams and this should end up being a great show for all hockey fans.

We were treated to an epic playoff series between these two in 2022 and now the rivalry will take on a new chapter. This is as good as it gets when it comes to an early-season outdoor game.

This matchup will feature some of the great players in the league. Of course, any conversation involving the Edmonton Oilers starts and ends with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. These are two of the five best players in the NHL.

Edmonton has a ton of other really good players too which is why they are truly Stanley Cup contenders. Guys like Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Zach Hyman, Evan Bouchard, and Evander Kane amongst others are all looking to make an impact.

Seeing the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames in the Heritage Classic will be epic.

As for the Calgary Flames, they have some really good players as well. They aren’t as good as the Oilers but guys like Nazem Kadri, Jonathan Huberdeau, Elias Lindholm, and Mikael Backlund amongst others are looking to get this team back in the postseason.

On Tuesday, the two teams revealed what they are going to wear during the Heritage Classic and they are going old school. There are going to be some people who like these jerseys and some who don’t. They should end up looking good on the ice when the time comes.

The Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames are going to be rocking these beauties in the game that takes place outside and it is going to have an old-school feel. The graphic above has a detailed description of some things that are featured on the jerseys and in the uniforms.

The fact that “Battle of Alberta” is inside the back neck is an amazing part of it all. Obviously, that is a tribute to this rivalry that is so amazing and has been for so long.

So much history is taking place with these two jerseys and it should be so fun to watch them play while wearing them. NHL fans are in for a treat with these.
