The Boston Bruins made a very bold move scratching this player
Over the weekend, the Boston Bruins played two games in California to end the trip to that state. On Saturday night, they played against the Los Angeles Kings who are one of the better teams in the Western Conference.
They are definitely the best of the three California teams and it really isn’t even close at this point in time. They also did it without a forward that they need to have in their lineup as much as possible this season.
Jake DeBrusk was late for a team meeting so they scratched him against the Kings. The Bruins don’t mess around with this stuff no matter who you are. They aren’t the highest-flying offense and need everybody there contributing but they have standards as well.
If you don’t meet those standards, you don’t play. It really isn’t all that unreasonable. The Bruins have been one of the best teams in the NHL for a long time now so nobody can really question how they run their hockey operation right now.
The Boston Bruins are not messing around when it comes to their operation.
DeBrusk made it into the lineup against the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night after missing the game one night prior. Obviously, it is good to see that he served his punishment and then got right back in there. He had an assist in the 3-1 victory for Boston.
Now, after this successful 2-0 weekend, the Bruins are 5-0-0 and one of the last remaining undefeated teams left. Knowing they scratched DeBrusk through all of this and he responded tells you how healthy this organization is. Plenty of teams would have crumbled with the drama.
Both sides are going to move on from this just fine. They are making one last stop in Illinois to play the Chicago Blackhawks before returning home. You can bet that DeBrusk will be in there ready to play against Connor Bedard’s team on the road.
Jake DeBrusk is a fantastic player and has developed into a key contributor to their team. The Bruins haven’t had the most first-round success in recent years but DeBrusk is definitely a success story. Hopefully, he goes on to have a really good season and has learned a great lesson.
