Yaroslav Askarov is someone that the New Jersey Devils could consider
If the Nashville Predators decide that they want to extend Juuse Saros and have him around for a long time, they might decide to move on from Yaroslav Askarov for someone who can help them in other areas.
Askarov is a former first-round pick (11th overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft. He is a goaltender who has a very high NHL ceiling because of his incredible ability.
He has already made his NHL debut but he has only one game under his belt. It didn’t go amazing as the Predators lost that game and he gave up four goals on 35 shots. However, his team did have a chance to win and they only lost to the Montreal Canadiens by one.
So far this season, he has only played in the AHL. He has made five starts with the Milwaukee Admirals and he has a 1.60 goals against to go with a .935 save percentage. These are outstanding numbers and it appears as if he is ready for the NHL.
We’ll see what happens with him going forward but he would surely look good in a New Jersey Devils sweater.
