Over the weekend, there was a lot that went on in Chicago Blackhawks land. The biggest story is the absence of Corey Perry who hasn’t been with the team for a little while now.

Perry is a veteran forward who is in his first season as a member of the Blackhawks. He is someone that has had a lot of success in this league including a Hart Trophy. Rocket Richard, and Stanley Cup. In his amazing career so far, he has 421 goals, 471 assists, and 892 points in 1273 games.

The team is declining to comment on where Perry is and why he is missing from the team right now. The only detail they have given is that he will be out for the foreseeable future.

That is very vague because it really only means that he won’t be back soon. It could be a month, three months, or the rest of the season. We will have to wait and find out.

It is nobody’s business until Perry or the Hawks decide to make it public. Right now, Perry has asked for his privacy and that is what he deserves.

There is a lot to talk about when it comes to the Chicago Blackhawks right now

Weekend Results

On Friday afternoon, the Blackhawks took on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Of course, the Leafs have high expectations this season so losing to a team like the Blackhawks would be a disaster for them. Losing to them twice would be even worse.

The Hawks completed the season sweep of the Leafs as they beat them at the United Center on Friday. It was a 4-3 overtime winner thanks to an awesome game-winning play made by Connor Bedard and Kevin Kochinski.

Blackhawks fans loved seeing the two young stars make a big play but they would have never gotten to overtime without the regulation hat trick scored by Jason Dickinson. It was a very fun game all around and it ended a five-game losing streak for Chicago.

On Sunday afternoon, the Hawks were at home once again. This time, they took on their biggest rival in the St. Louis Blues. This game didn’t really go well for them as they lost by a final score of 4-2.

St. Louis took the wind out of Chicago’s sails early and they were never able to get it going on the home side. Ryan Donato and Boris Katchouk scored the two tallies for the Hawks.

Next

The Chicago Blackhawks have the final game of their three-game homestand against the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday. It is going to be a chance for the Hawks to get the momentum back after a tough loss to the Blues.

The Hawks, in all honesty, are underdogs in just about every game they play. When they play the Kraken, there is a good chance that they will lose. The Kraken are a good team looking to get back into the race after making the playoffs last year.

Overall Outlook

All that matters is seeing guys like Connor Bedard, Kevin Korchinski, and Lukas Reichel amongst other young players develop. If they win some games along the way, great. If they don’t, that doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things either.

There might be some more luck in the spring with the draft lottery if they finish low again. They aren’t tanking as much as they were last year but they’d like to have a high pick once again. There are some brighter times coming soon.
