In terms of hockey, the Chicago Blackhawks are one of the worst teams in the NHL. They are 6-13-0 with 12 standings points which is the bottom of the Central Division.

They won the lottery in 2023 which landed them Connor Bedard. It is amazing to have him to build around but one player isn’t going to turn a franchise around by himself.

There are other good young players there like Kevin Korchinski, Alex Vlasic, and Lukas Reichel amongst others but most of the roster is bad.

They have a great farm system which makes the future seem very bright but this isn’t going to be an easy season to get through (outside of watching Bedard).

It won’t be any easier if they deal with off-the-ice issues which they currently are in the middle of. Corey Perry has been missing from the team for about a week and everyone has been very curious as to why. The Hawks never really came out and said.

The Chicago Blackhawks are not going to have Corey Perry on the team anymore

Well, now we know that the team is putting Perry on waivers with the intent to terminate his contract. He will no longer be a member of the organization.

According to the Hawks in a statement, they conducted an internal investigation into the situation. They came to the conclusion that Perry has engaged in conduct that is in violation of the terms of his contracts in addition to the policies within the organization that promote a professional and safe environment.

This is not a good look for Perry or the Hawks. Clearly, they felt that whatever it was warranted him leaving the team for good. Honestly, it is good to see the Blackhawks investigate a situation and act on it quickly when they find what they believe is wrongdoing.

Perry had four goals and five assists for nine points in 14 games played this season with the Hawks. He also led the Hawks in both xGF% (58.39) and SCF% (58.64) so he was clearly not cut for his play on the ice. They made the right decision though because the way you act matters even more.

Now, the Hawks have to move forward with the players that they do have doing their jobs the right way. Their next game will come on Tuesday night when the Seattle Kraken take the ice against them. Hopefully, the team comes out and plays a solid team game.
