New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes is the NHL’s third star of the week
The New Jersey Devils have had an up-and-down start to the season but that isn’t the case for Jack Hughes.
He has been one of the best players in the NHL all season long and now he is being recognized as the NHL’s Third Star of the Week.
This week’s period goes from Nov. 27th to Dec. 3rd. Connor Ingram of the Arizona Coyotes is the First Star while Mat Barzal of the New York Islanders is the second star.
Hughes led the NHL in scoring during the week as he had three goals and four assists for seven points during those three games. During this stretch, the Devils went 2-1-0.
On the season, Hughes is up to nine goals and 21 assists for 30 points. The goal that he scored against the San Jose Sharks on Friday made him the fastest Devils player to ever reach 30 points in a season.
The highlight of the week for Jack was assisting on his brother Luke Hughes’s overtime winner in Philadelphia. The team needed Jack Hughes to be the hero after they blew a 3-1 lead in regulation. It was his third point of the evening.
The New Jersey Devils need Jack Hughes to keep shining bright in 2023-24
This was the second time that Jack Hughes was recognized with a “Star Honor” this season. He was named as the First Star of the Month for October. It has been an incredible season for Hughes on an individual level and there is another level that he can help get this team to.
Their next game will take place on Tuesday night and it is a special one. Jack Hughes and his brother Luke Hughes will be taking on Quinn Hughes and the Vancouver Canucks.
This is going to be the first time that all three Hughes brothers skate in the same NHL game. Devils fans are hoping that their two guys can get the win instead of Vancouver’s guy. Maybe Jack Hughes could have another “star of the week” type of performance.
