The Arizona Coyotes have been looking for a new building for a very long time. They play at the University of Arizona State right now for fewer than 5000 people each home game.

It is a very cool atmosphere for those in the building but an NHL team should be playing in a big-time arena. The great sports state that is Arizona deserves much better for its hockey club.

There is going to be a new building soon. NHL insider Darren Dreger of TSN reported on X that there is a purchase of land being finalized by the Coyotes and that plans to announce the project for a new building will be announced soon.

Seeing them get land to build a rink is the best news the NHL could hear right now. The Yotes are an important team and Arizona cares about hockey more than people think. Enjoying expansion is great but relocation is painful for a lot of people.

Growing the game is important and moving a team away from a place like Arizona will not do good things for hockey in that market. With a star like Auston Matthews having it as his hometown, it is proof that the NHL has good roots there now. Hopefully, this plan works well for everyone involved.

Unique winning streak

The Arizona Coyotes won their game on Monday night. It was a 6-0 win at Mullett Arena over the Washington Capitals. This was their fifth win in a row. After years and years of frustration, they are finally looking like a solid team (13-9-2).

This five-game winning streak isn’t your typical streak though. It is unique because they have defeated the last five Stanley Cup champions on this run. The Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche, Tampa Bay Lightning, St. Louis Blues, and Washington Capitals are those teams.

It is kind of strange that those five teams happened to be the five most recent opponents for Arizona but they beat them all. It has been fun to watch.

What’s Next?

The Arizona Coyotes won’t play the sixth most recent Stanley Cup champion in their next game. They have the Philadelphia Flyers at Mullett Arena to end a five-game homestand on Thursday night.

It will be fun to see if they can keep their winning streak going. The Yotes have been a mostly losing franchise for a long time and their fans deserve this type of winning. We’ll see how far they can take it this year with some amazing players leading the way.
