Not all heroes wear capes, but some top NHL Draft prospects will be granted superpowers in Upper Deck's latest partnership with Warner Bros. and DC Comics.

As one of the world's leading producers of hockey cards, Upper Deck has created a series of collectibles inspired by DC superheroes that bring a creative new spin to the hobby. The 2025 DC Fanimation Crossover will feature four brand-new sets of cards in total with prospects, current NHL superstars, and even hockey legends being depicted.

For the first colletion in the series, top-ranked prospect Matthew Schaefer is illustrated in the style of Superman. Michael Misa takes on the persona of Batman, while the speedy young center James Hagens is fittingly depicted as The Flash. Highly-ranked winger Porter Martone is styled after Green Lantern, and center Caleb Desnoyers has been transformed into Nightwing.

This is just the first set of the collection, with three more on the way this year. The next batch of cards scheduled to drop mid-July is going to feature the likes of Connor McDavid and Wayne Gretzky inspired by the upcoming James Gunn film "Superman," which will hit theatres on July 11.

These cards are available for purchase exclusively on Upper Deck's e-Pack platform. They will first be offered digitally, and then the cards are ready to be printed and shipped in around 8-10 weeks.

Fans can buy the packs now until July 7 at midnight, so if you're a collector, you should move lightning-fast to get the limited-edition printings.

"We wanted to bring fans together by reviving an iconic insert to spotlight some incredible Upper Deck athletes whose lives will change on draft day. While Fanimation cards have been sought after for decades, combining their unique art style with future NHL stars and the DC Universe is an innovation that collectors have never seen before."
Jason Masherah, President of Upper Deck
