The Carolina Hurricanes will be celebrating their greatest accomplishment as a franchise as they relive the moments that made them Stanley Cup champions. The celebration will take place from December 7-9 in Raleigh, North Carolina, at thee Lenovo Center. The Stanley Cup won in 2006 was the franchise's first major sports title.
Who is expected at this event?
The entire championship roster including former General Manager Jim Rutherford and head coach peter Laviolette, is expected to share stories and participate in question-and-answer period. Players expected to be involved include Rod Brind' Amour, Glen Wesley, Eric Staal, Cam Ward, Justin Williams, Ray Whitney, Erik Cole, Mark Recchi, Doug Weight, Andrew Ladd, Mike Commodore, Bret HEdican, Niclas Wallin, Martin Gerber, Aaron Ward, Chad LaRose, and Andrew Hutchinson.
Dates, times, and events
On Sunday, December 7, there will be a red carpet event. A pre-game event will take place from 1:00 to 3:00 at the Lenovo Center's Arena Club. Those individuals attending will be gifted a replica 2006 championship ring and have an opportunity to take pictures with the Stanley Cup.
Also expected is a table discussion with key players from the biggest moments in team history. At 5:00 p.m. the Hurricanes will take on the San Jose Sharks in what may be a closely competitive contest. On Monday, December 8, the championship team from the 2006 Stanley Cup run will take on the NC State Icepack hockey team and that will also be held at the Lenovo Center.
The Hurricanes game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday, December 9 at 7:30 p.m. will feature a pre-game special ceremony that will once again feature the 2006 Stanley Cup champion Hurricanes roster. Fans attending will receive a limited commemorative poster and fans will also be able to take pictures with the Stanley Cup. Fans can also buy a special trophy photo pass ticket package that gives them faster access to the photo lines. Mystery pucks will be available for purchase before the game as pucks signed by the championship team will be sold by the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation.
