Jersey Watch: Ole Miss's military appreciation jerseys are a thing of beauty

Ole Miss's football coach might be what in the headlines, but this jersey deserves to be seen. The team even had a photoshoot with them at a local army facility.

Last year UNLV's club hockey team debuted their new jerseys with a casino photo shoot. It’s Vegas, what else would you expect? The M Resort in Summerlin was nice enough to provide the backdrop, so unfortunately there no Bellagio fountains or Siegfried and Roy tigers to go along with the new sweaters.

Ole Miss is obviously more known for their football instead of their club hockey team (in fact, news about their head coach has been dominating sports news cycles as of late). While their football team was off playing their instate rivalry against Mississippi State this Thanksgiving weekend their club hockey counterparts debuted their new jerseys. Just like UNLV they used an off campus venue for a photo shoot. As much as we loved seeing hockey jerseys at the craps table, Ole Miss might have beaten them, especially in the patriotism department.

Ole Miss visited a local army air support facility. To be fair, these are their military appreciation jerseys. To also be fair they’re so beautiful they should make them their full time threads. The front of the jersey is in army camouflage. The sleeves are American flag patterned. The right sleeve is blue with stars. The left sleeve has red and white stripes. The jersey numbers on the back were in a dark navy blue with a red and white outline. The numbers on the jersey sleeves were white with a red and blue outline The jerseys made a previous appearance in their Veteran's Day social media post.

The “Ole Miss” word mark is also in the American flag pattern and in the same font as the school's famous logo. The “Ole” is the blue with stars while “Miss” is the red and white stripes. Against the camo background it looks phenomenal. The fact the team posed with them, with military members, in front of an attack helicopter really puts the jersey reveal into maximum overdrive. All that was missing was a few puck carrying bald eagles. You can take a look at the whole photo shoot here. The base visit was arranged by Ole Miss student veterans and Alpha Omega veterans.

They call these military appreciation jerseys, but they would look any time of the year. USA Hockey did a good job with these years Olympic Jerseys but maybe they should borrow Ole Miss’s design for the 2030 games in France. Until then we’ll try to order one to wear at our Fourth of July barbecues. During their Military Appreciation game Ole Miss beat the team from the University of Alabama, another noted football rival, by the score of 4-2. This team plays in division II and is in the Atlantic Coast College Hockey league. the college has a division III club program a well.
